The Morgan 33, Keel Sloops

HOME

Morgan dealers often asked for a keel sloop of of modest size and price for buyers who did not need the shoal draft afforded by center-boards, and the sleek Morgan 33 was our answer.

Fast in a wide range of wind and sea conditions the flashy little sloops ran up a good record before the CCA rule was abandoned.

Outrageous shown here came within two minuets of winning the Miami to Nassau Ocean Race in the hands of Charley Morgan and crew in the first season they were out.

It could have been Charley's fourth Miami Nassau win ... but a vicious squall, a wild spinnaker roll out, and  parted spinnaker halyard changed what might have been.

Production was limited and terminated shortly after the rating rules came into effect.
